Georgia’s House Update

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all having a great Memorial Day Week-end.

Just wanted to bring everyone an update on what’s happening here at Georgia’s House. We are happy to announce that Georgia’s House is at full capacity right now with 9 women and 4 children using the facility on a daily basis. In the past five weeks we have being able to provide services to 18 women and 9 children for a total of 290 bed nights. (Bed nights is the total number of beds that was occupied during this period.) We have also utilized a total of 319 volunteer-hours and I want to say thank you to everyone who have taken the time to stop in and spend quality time with our ladies.

The program offered at Georgia’s House is to allow these women an opportunity to get back on their feet without the stress or worries of finding shelter and a safe place to gather themselves. In the past 5 weeks we have had 2 successes; one lady found a full time job as a nanny and has moved on, another found a full-time job and was able to move on her own with her kids. That is what we hope to see continue to happen at Georgia’s House and we want to be here so we can all be involved in making it happen for other women who may presently be staying with us or those who may have future need of the services offered here.

We want everyone to consider Georgia’s House a community project; this means if you have the time and are looking for something to do we can find an activity to fill your day. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please contact Mary Chapman at 360-479-9020 or by email maryvolunteercoor@gmail.com.
